ORA SmartVision with VerifEye+ is a sophisticated new way to achieve nearly LASIK-like results after a patient has had Cataract surgery. During a Cataract surgery, a lens implant is placed in the eye which has a prescription. The way Cataract surgery has been performed in the past is that prior to the procedure an ultrasound device would be used to measure the length of the eye and estimate the lens power required for the surgery. Now the procedure is performed using an Optical biometer to measure eye length and cornea shape to estimate the lens power required. This technique is more accurate than the previous way, but now we can be even more accurate with the new ORA SmartVision technique. During the ORA SmartVision procedure, after the cataract is removed, the ORA laser is placed over the eye and used to scan the eye front to back. The scan is then used to compare your eye with millions of other cataract surgery patients to help select the right lens power. No techniques are 100% accurate as of yet, but we have the ability to have accuracy with ORA SmartVision than we’ve had before. ORA SmartVision may not be right for everyone.
