Vision Landscape for ages 20-40: In the early 20s, patients report some of the best vision of their life. Vision may be limited by astigmatism, as well as nearsightedness or farsightedness. These problems are usually correctable with surgery. As the 40’s approach, near vision problems set in.
Vision Correction Options for Age 20-40:
LASIK Surgery: This quick 2-step procedure corrects mild-moderate amounts of astigmatism, as well as nearsightedness and farsightedness. We provide the latest blade-free LASIK, using the Intralase femtosecond laser. Visual recovery is rapid in most young patients. Most patients return to work the next day. Virtually all of our patients report no pain with LASIK.
PRK: This quick 1-step procedure corrects vision using the same laser as LASIK. It is also a blade-free procedure. It is ideal for patients with thin corneas or with dry eyes. Compared to LASIK, visual recovery is slower (weeks to months).
EVO ICL: This surgery involves placing a Specialty lens inside the eye in front of the natural lens to correct vision. It is sometimes called an “implantable contact lens”. It is ideal for patients, who have been told they are not candidates for LASIK or PRK. It requires the use of an Operating room and thus is less cost-effect than LASIK and PRK.
ReLEx SMILE: ReLEx SMILE is a new LASIK eye surgery procedure without a corneal flap. It works by using a Zeiss femtosecond laser to create a small disc, or “lenticule”, in the cornea that is then removed by the LASIK Surgeon.
